The first business centre office to let was opened here on the Billing Road and provided business people in the town the opportunity to have an office within the town centre with furniture and secretarial support. In fact Beckett House is still a business centre today. Northampton was a development town in the 1980ís and along with many UK towns and cities and with this growth came the out of town business parks and the redevelopment of the city centre. Northampton business centre serviced offices did not really take off here, as Milton Keynes provided more amenities. Northampton became the distribution centre of England with DRIFT in Daventry.
